most of the manuscript was copied in two different periods, in 660/1262, namely in Jumādā l-thāniya 660/April–May 1262 (115v, 117v, 136r), Rajab 660/May–June 1262 (122r), Shaʿbān 660/June–July 1262 (11r, 17v) and Ramaḍān 660/July–August 1262 (26r, 30v, 40v, 52r), and in 675/1276-7, namely between Rajab 675/December 1276–January 1277 (69v, 92v) and Shaʿbān 675/January-February 1277 (134r); in addition, the manuscript was supplemented at a later stage with additional works or notes copied in al-Sarāy al-Jadīda in 763/1361-2 and 765/1363-4 (147v–148r), and in Qusṭanṭiniyya on 6 Shawwāl 901/18 June 1496 (Iv–IIr).
Or.:unknown, probably Anatolia, at least the sections copied in 675/1276-7; copied by Suhrāb b. Amīr al-Ḥājj b. Muḥammad b. al-Ḥasan al-Qayṣarī (52r, 69v, 92v, 122r, 136r), who is also the scribe of MS Leiden, UB, Or. 203, containing Quṭb al-Dīn al-Shīrāzī’s (d. 710/1311) Nihāyat al-idrāk (copy completed on 682/1283 in Arzīnjān, i.e., Erzincan) and MS Istanbul, Topkapı Sarayı, Ahmet III 3336/2, although in that case the name of the scribe is catalogued as Mihrāb. Judging from a marginal gloss (2r), the scribe, Suhrāb b. Amīr al-Ḥājj, seems to be a direct disciple or close collaborator of Quṭb al-Dīn Maḥmūd al-Shīrāzī during the period 675/1276-7; the nisba of the scribe linking him to Kayseri and the fact that Quṭb al-Dīn al-Shīrāzī had already been appointed judge of Sivas by 675/1277 point to an Anatolian origin, and probably to Sivas (see Kaveh Niazi, Quṭb al-Dīn Shīrāzī and the Configuration of the Heavens. A Comparison of Texts and Models, Dordrecht: Springer, 2014, pp. 69 ff.). The scribe copied the works in the manuscript for his personal use in two different periods, namely in 660/1262, in a period when the Marāgha observatory was fully active, and in 675/1276-7, when he was a disciple or close collaborator of Quṭb al-Dīn al-Shīrāzī.

A statement of ownership by ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Muʾayyadī (Ravius erroneously reads ‘el-Muniri’), probably ʿAbd al-Wahhāb b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAlī b. al-Muʾayyad (d. 970/1562-3), the son of the above Muʾayyad-zāde and author of a commentary on al-Ghazālī’s Tahāfut al-falāsifa (Vv; on him, see ʿUmar Riḍā Kaḥḥāla, Muʿjam al-muʾallifīn. A statement of purchase by Christianus Ravius Berlinensis in 1051/1641 in Constantinople (inside front cover). A statement of purchase from Ratelband, an Amsterdam bookseller, by Thomas Marshall (d. 1685), who in 1672 would be appointed Rector of Lincoln College, Oxford (Ir). – According to Toomer (p. 238), in 1651 Ravius, then in Stockholm, sold the manuscript to Claude Hardy (d. 1678) and sent it to Johannes Morianus (Johann Moriaen, d. 1668) in Amsterdam, who would forward it to Hardy. However, Morianus did not send the manuscript to Hardy, and when he died, it was sold to the bookseller Elias Ratelbandt. Marshall bought it in the first half of 1668, took it to England in June and presented it to the Bodleian Library before returning to Holland later that summer.
