Initials etc. Illuminated initials, coloured (red and green) capitals, gamboge wash (faded) over small capitals. The initials throughout exhibit the endless twist pattern and the I's generally end in a bird's head biting itself. D's contain bird-like grotesques. The capitals, in titles, etc., are nearly all coloured red or green, although sometimes left outlined in ink. The letter C is exactly like E while the middle horizontal stroke omitted. The U is always uncial. The G is the square C with a backward curve over the end of the bottom line. These letters are frequently combined in quaint unusual ligatures, and are sometimes, especially I's, written much smaller and inserted in and among the larger letters.
Decorations The twist pattern of the initials occurs also on the decorated margins of 21-3.
Marginal annotations Rare marginalia | Well written.
