statement of ownership with the name erased dating the purchase of the manuscript to 1080/1669-70 (343r); an octagonal seal by Claudius James Rich (d. 1822), dated 1812, with the famous quatrain by Saʿadī balagha l-ʿulā bi-kamāli-hi, kashafa al-dujā bi-jamāli-hi, ḥasunat jamīʿu khiṣāli-hi, ṣallū ʿalay-hi wa-āli-hi from the preface of the Gulistān (1v).

No shaddas, hamzas or vowels. Substantial diagrams; diagram in red and black; few tables; table lines in black with abjad notation in red. Dimensions: 252x132 mm; written area: 195x90; 23 lines per page. No moisture or mold stains. Covers in reddish leather over paper pasteboards with fillets. Type III binding.
