a statement of purchase dated 1312/1894-5 by the ‘representative of Azerbaijan’, with name and seal erased (517r). A general note on the sciences; brief quotations on the value of mathematics ascribed to Plato and Aristotle; two Arabic poems and a Persian one (all on f. 517r). Oval library stamps (517v, 565v, 655r).
Cod.: paper, 139 ff. (foliated with Hindu-Arabic numerals running from ‘517’ to ‘655’; an erroneous earlier foliation running from ‘342’ to ‘371’, partially crossed out; two small slips inserted after f. 536, another after f. 608; catchwords). A single Indian nastaʿlīq hand in black (Ḥāʾirī); generally dotted ductus. Book and section titles in red; section titles often in the margins. Abjad numbers and geometrical points in the text overlined in black. Diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points, often partially and sometimes fully in the margins; unfilled spaces for diagrams in the third and fourth parts. No tables. Golden frame with blue rule-border around the text area, interrupted by diagrams sticking out. Particularly extensive glosses in the first part. Codex in excellent condition; minor restorations in the folds. Dimensions: 33×21 cm; 31 lines per page. Modern binding with marbled doublures; type III.
