General Information
Pouyan Shahidi is a doctoral candidate in Indiana University (IU) Bloomington (USA), majoring in the department of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures, with a minor in the department of History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine. He received his master’s degrees from the University of Tehran (Iran) and Indiana University in history of medieval astronomy, history and philosophy of science, and in Middle Eastern languages and cultures. His research focuses on the interactions between natural philosophy and astronomy in the works of Ibn Sīnā (Avicenna). He is interested in digital humanities approaches, especially in geospatial data analysis and visualization, and digital reconstruction of medieval astronomical instruments and mathematical methods. He is also a senior digital methods specialist in the Institute for Digital Arts and Humanities at IU.
