% (the percent sign) is the placeholder for no, one or more than one character.
%% (two percent signs) is the placeholder for no, one or more than one character, but not for blank space (so that a search ends at word boundaries).

At the beginning and at the end, these placeholders are superfluous.

Single work: Arabic.  Date:

undated; c. 12th/18th c.

Or.:

unknown; copied by Abū Aḥmad Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad, known as al-Ashraf, from an exemplar dated 778/1376-7, which in turn was copied from the autograph dated 5 Shawwāl 644/13 February 1247 (p. 269). The scribe further quotes a note in the exemplar stating that al-Ṭūsī confirmed on 24 Jumādā l-ūlā 661/5 April 1263 that a copy by the hand of Imām al-Kabīr al-Fāḍil al-Walad Shams al-Milla wa-l-Dīn Sayyid al-ʿUlamāʾ wa-l-Aʾimma ʿAbd al-Kāfī had been read to him by the scribe (p. 269). MS Istanbul, Millet, Feyzullah Efendi 1361, copied in 778/1376-7 and likely the exemplar of the present manuscript, and MS Patna, Khuda Bakhsh, HL 3477 likewise derive from the copy by ʿAbd al-Kāfī.
