Muḥammad al-Turkistānī l-Arzawānī in the Madrasa ʿAḍūdiyya (except for the last treatise); copied from a copy in the hand of Badr al-Milla wa-l-Dīn al-Malaṭī from a copy in the hand of Quṭb al-Dīn Maḥmūd al-Shīrāzī (d. 710/1311) from an autograph (164v, note upside down). The copy by the otherwise unknown al-Malaṭī was probably done when Quṭb al-Dīn al-Shīrāzī was appointed judge of Malatya in the early 680s/1280s; al-Turkistānī also copied MS Istanbul, Süleymaniye, Ayasofya 2583 of al-Ṭūsī’s Taḥrīr.
Prov.:a partially damaged statement with date Ramaḍān 601/April-May 1205 (IIr). A Persian poem in red (IIr). An English note in pencil stating that ‘this title page is in no way connected with the book’ (IIr). An illegible red tughra, apparently written over a seal (167v). Old shelfmarks: ‘1502’ in ghubār numerals; ‘637’ and ‘745’ in Arabic-European numerals (front doublure).
Cod.: paper, II+171 ff. (foliated with Arabic-European numerals in pencil on every fifth recto; catchwords). Main hand: a single clear black formal naskh, almost fully undotted and without vowels. Initial basmala and some table headings in a sort of tawqīʿ musalsal with some round Kufic elements written with a broad pen; book headings in thuluth. Section headings, abjad and Hindu-Arabic numerals, few glosses, and geometrical points throughout the body text in red. Diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points, occasionally the other way around. Tables with red lines. The last two small works in two different almost fully undotted naskh hands, the second of these with ligatures. Codex in very good condition; stains and some damage to the first and last pages, partially restored; significant wear to the covers. Dimensions: 18.6×13 cm; 25 lines per page. Very old brown leather covers with a large round centre-piece with geometrical motifs and a frame with corner pieces, all blind-tooled; spine and fore-edge flap reinforced with light-brown leather strips; dark-brown leather doublures with a frame. Type II binding.
