(foliated with Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals in pen up to f. 21, continued in this description; loose or inbound slips of paper after ff. 28, 77, 149, 172 and 201; Hindu-Arabic quire numbers for quaternions in the upper left corner, only partially visible; catchwords). A single neat naskh hand; mostly dotted ductus with few vowel marks, some hamzas, shaddas mainly in the beginning; final kāfs are mostly indicated with a second smaller kāf above. Book and chapter headings and qawlu-hu in red; some use of red or black overlines for highlighting. Abjad numerals overlined or in red; Persian variants of Hindu-Arabic numerals in red. Diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points or vice-versa, sometimes in the margins; corrected diagrams on the loose or inbound slips of paper. Tables with red or black lines; blank space for the table in section I.12 (42v). Codex in very good condition; some stains (e.g., on ff. 88–89, 275) and minor water damage (e.g., ff. 35–41); pasted slips of paper on f. 1r. Dimensions: 25.5×18.5 cm; 22 lines per page. Red leather covers; doublures with marbled paper. Type III binding.

Some of the annotations are labelled ʿAbd al-Wāsiʿ Dāmī (e.g., 101r, 104v) or ʿAbd al-Wāsiʿ dāma ḍillu-hu (e.g., 52r, 53r) and hence date from the lifetime of the poet Mullā ʿAbd al-Wāsiʿ al-Dāmī b. Mullā Kalb ʿAlī (d. 1173/​1759-60), who owned MS Los Angeles, UCLA, Caro Minasian 40 of al-Nīsābūrī’s Tafsīr Taḥrīr al-Majisṭī (C.1.38) and annotated it based on al-Birjandī’s commentary. Collation marks blgh (e.g., 42r, 65v, 71v).
