undated, 7th/13th c. (Piemontese), certainly before 913/1507. The copying of the glosses by Zayn al-ʿĀbidīn b. Muḥammad al-Ḥusaynī, known as Amīr al-Murtāḍ, was finished on 11 Muḥarram 913/​23 May 1507 (235v; cf. Nallino).

The codex consists of the two original manuscripts Palatina 283 (part 1, also referred to as Or. 156a) and Palatina 282 (part 2, Or. 156b, with a slightly larger paper size). Oval stamp ‘Bibl. Caes. Med. Palat.’ and small round stamp ‘Biblioteca Med. Laur. – Firenze’ (1r, 90v, 92r, 136v). Old shelfmarks: ‘cclxxxv’, ‘283’, ‘Cod. Laur. Orient. Palat. cclxxxiv (156)’ (1r); ‘cclxxxiv’, ‘282’ (92r).

Cod.: paper, 235 ff. (foliated with Arabic-European numerals in pencil in the bottom margin of rectos, including eight inlaid slips of paper with notes in part 2; separate foliation of part 1 in Arabic-European numerals in the upper left corner of rectos; two separate foliations of part 2 in the upper left corner of rectos, the one with Arabic-European numerals being one ahead of the one with Hindu-Arabic numerals and both skipping all inlaid slips; catchwords). Part 2: a single neat naskh hand; partially dotted ductus, occasional hamzas, no shaddas. Book and chapter titles in red; chapter numbers in abjad in bluish green. Abjad numbers and geometrical points in the text in red. Small diagrams in the body text; additional ones in the margins. Numerous tables in black and red, and a rosette (169v). Part 1 of the codex in good condition. Part 2 in bad condition; major stains in the middle of all pages, sometimes hindering the reading of the microfilm scans; restorations with slips of paper, occasionally covering significant parts of the body text and/or marginal notes (e.g., 129v–132v). Dimensions of part 2: 26.5×19 cm; 21 lines per page. Cardboard covers with white leather binding. Type III binding.
