a small oval seal ‘… Walī …’ (2r). An octogonal seal in Ottoman Turkish (2r). A Persian poem by Saʿdī (254r). A statement of endowment by Ḥājj Muṣṭafā ʿĀṭif, collector and founder of the library (d. 1155/1742), accompanied by a round seal of endowment dated 1154/​1741-2 (1r, Mühür Veritabanı, no. 120; the same seal on ff. 2r, 78r, 174r, 215r, 254r). Old shelfmark: ‘1259’ (1r, head).

Cod.: paper, I+254+Ia ff. (foliated with corresponding Arabic-European and Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil in the upper left area of rectos; catchwords, often trimmed). A single small nastaʿlīq hand; partially dotted ductus. Book and section titles in red; book headings in enlarged bold black, section numbers in enlarged bold black abjad. Proposition numbers in red abjad in the margins. Abjad and Hindu-Arabic numerals in red; geometrical points in the text not highlighted in any way. Diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points or sometimes vice versa; five diagrams lacking geometrical points (77r, 78r, 217v), some reserved spaces. Tables with red lines, mostly unfinished, but the star catalogue is complete; a large rosette (130v–131r). Codex in acceptable condition; water stains in the top half of most pages, also affecting the text area and sometimes hindering the reading; stains in the top outer corners of the first and last eight pages, especially on ff. 253–254. Dimensions: 15.5×10 cm; 19 lines per page. Light-brown leather covers with mandorlas and pendants with floral motifs on front and back, fore-edge flap, and flap; yellow paper doublures. Type II binding.
