undated owner’s statement by a certain al-Zuhrī (1r). Some Sanskrit statements giving the title of the work as ‘Sharḥ Majasṭī jmāmī’ (?)’, the date of purchase as Phalguṇa of the Saṃvat year 1782 (December 1726), and a possible earlier shelfmark ‘557’ (1r). No. 38 in the typewritten list at the library consulted by Daiber for his 1986 publication.

Cod.: paper, 182+Ia ff. (foliated with Hindu-Arabic numerals [Persian variants] in pen in the upper margin of rectos; catchwords). A single nastaʿlīq hand; generally dotted ductus, only occasional hamzas and shaddas. Book and chapter titles in red (Book V: bold black with overline); proposition numbers in red in the margins. Abjad numbers and geometrical points in the text in red. All diagrams (in black and red) were drawn in the margins, although small spaces were generally reserved for them within the body text. Tables in black and red; rosette on f. 103r. Codex in good condition; numerous small holes and somewhat larger damage caused by insects, never hindering the reading; some restorations of the inner fold, especially towards the end. Dimensions: unknown; 16 or 17 lines per page. Cardboard cover with severely worn red cloth.

Cont.: astronomy. — Index: Ptolemaica (1v–182v). An unfoliated slip of paper full with notes and calculations is inserted after f. 97. Blank: 42v, 81v, 146v, 161v, Ia; ff. 13v and 57r are marked as blank pages although they contain a chapter title at the bottom.
