ff. 9v–43r completed on Sunday, 27 Muḥarram 〈12〉67/1 December 1850 (41r, 42v, 43r); ff. 1r–8v copied by the same hand.

Cairo; copied by ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ ʿAbd al-ʿAẓīm b. al-Marḥūm al-Shaykh (?) Ḥasan ʿAbd al-ʿAẓīm al-Tafahnāwī (8v, 43r); ff. 1r–8v were copied in the presence of Yaḥyā Afandī Hakīm (8v). This manuscript was copied from MS Cairo, Dār al-kutub, mīqāt Muṣṭafā Fāḍil 200, since it includes all four works copied by different hands in that manuscript (although in a different order) as well as its glosses and notabilia notes. The exemplar was in al-Kutubkhāna al-khidīwiyya al-miṣriyya in Cairo by the time the present manuscript was copied.

an ownership statement by Ḥasan Nuṣrat (?) Afandī, known as al-Ṭawbjī, dated 4 Ṣafar 〈1〉306/10 October 1888 in Asyūṭ, written over an erased statement.

Cod.: paper, 43 ff. (foliated with Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil in the upper left corner of rectos; catchwords). A clear thick black naskh hand; fully dotted ductus with several vowels and a few sukūns and shaddas. Red ink for chapter beginnings, formulaic expressions, Hindu-Arabic numerals and the text of Pseudo-Ptolemy’s verba (numbered in abjad numerals). Text framed in red. Dimensions: 228×163 mm; 23 lines per page. Codex in good condition; binding loose and reinforced with paper slips, some smudges. Slightly damaged cover in çarkuşe binding with paper over paper pasteboards, decorated with a regular geometric pattern in yellow, red and black. Type III binding.

Cont.: astrology. — Index: Sahl b. Bishr, Risāla fī l-Awqāt (1r–8v); Ptolemaica (9v–41r); extracts from a commentary on Muḥammad al-Zakī al-Ghaznawī, Kitāb Kifāyat al-taʿālīm fī aḥkām al-tanjīm (41v–42v); a chapter Fī maʿrifat sāʿāt al-bust (42v–43r). Blank: presumably 8v–9r and 43v (not included in the scans).

Some marginal corrections and notes by the copyist. Part of verbum 98 (here: 100) and the whole commentary thereupon and verbum 99 (here: 101) skipped but then added in the margin by the copyist, along with the commentary on verbum 99 (here: 101), which is thus found twice (40v). Two long glosses on verbum 100 (here: 102), both copied from the exemplar, one originally from al-Ghaznawī’s Kitāb al-Kifāya (40v).
