owner name: Muḥammad b. al-Ḥusayn (3r), who also owned MS Pococke 112. This is vol. 22 of a complete copy of Ibn Sīnā’s Kitāb al-Shifāʾ in 24 volumes, of which the Pococke collection has sixteen; the first half of the Talkhīṣ al-Majisṭī, by the same hand, is included in MS Oxford, Bodleian, Pococke 112⁢. Small round stamp of the ‘Bibliotheca Bodleiana’ (3v). The collection of the Orientalist and priest Edward Pococke (1604–1691) was purchased by the Bodleian Library in 1692.

Cod.: paper, 253 ff. (foliated with small Arabic-European numerals; quire signatures of the form ‘… of 〈vol.〉 22 of the Shifāʾ’ with the numbers written in abjad on every eighth or tenth folio [e.g., 99r, 147r], often trimmed; no catchwords). A very large and clear naskh hand. Fully dotted ductus, frequent vowels (including tanwīns) and hamzas, but only occasional shaddas. Abjad notation overlined. No rubrication can be discerned on the microfilm. Numerous nicely drawn diagrams; occasional spaces left open between sections of the text. Ff. 18, 40, and 250 are small inlaid sheets with notes, f. 246 is the top part of a folio from a manuscript of the chapter al-Mantiq of the Kitāb al-Shifāʾ with framed text. A polylobed circular centre-piece, filled by intersecting geometric patterns and floresque motifs (3r), similar to, but not the same as the one in MS Pococke 112. Codex in good condition with occasional stains, not hindering the reading; bottom edges of the last four folios damaged. Dimensions: not provided; 10 lines per page. Flyleaves, covers, and binding not assessable; traces of a flap on ff. 2–3 and 13v–14r.

Cont.: astronomy. — Index: Ptolemaica (3v–253r). A note in a different hand under the colophon states that this work is followed by fann 20 of the Kitāb al-Shifāʾ on arithmetic (253r). Blank: 1v (except for the shelfmark), 2v, 41v, 190r, and presumably 1r and 253v.
