Tehran, Kitābkhāna-yi Millī-yi Īrān, 20147
several of the works are dated to the months Jumādā l-ūlā and Rajab 1053/July-September 1643 (88r, 103v, 113r, 114v, 121r, 125v, 136v, 144r, 154v, 159r), making it plausible that these were copied by the same scribe; the Ptolemaic work is undated and by a different hand.
Or.:unknown; unknown scribes.
Prov.:tables for the rising of Suhayl and Sirius in several localities for the year 341 Malikī/1419-20, with a note (195v); a Persian poem (195v); a Persian extract (qism-i awwal) on solar distances and velocities, plus two trimmed notes, one ending with min-hu (195v). The birth dates and times of three children of an annotator in the period 1779–1785: Sayyid Ḥasan (22 Rajab 〈11〉93), Zaynab (20 Ṣafar 1196) and Sayyid Murtaḍā (?2 Rabīʿ al-awwal 1199) (195v). The words waqf or waqf ʿāmm written at the beginning and end of each treatise or extract except the Ptolemaic work. Undated ownership statement by the Iranian author and scholar Jalāl al-Dīn Humāʾī (1900–1980) (1r); rectangular stamp ‘Jalāl b. Ṭarab Humāʾī’ dated 1309
Cod.: paper, 197 ff. (foliation not visible on the scans but implied by the online descriptions of the works, with some inaccuracies; catchwords). Several naskh and several nastaʿlīq hands, suggesting that this is a composite manuscript. The Ptolemaic work: a neat, somewhat angular naskh hand in black; partially dotted ductus with some vowel marks, hamzas and shaddas; book and section titles and abjad and Hindu-Arabic numerals in red, sections numbered with red abjad numerals, sometimes overlined in black; geometrical points in the text not highlighted, some black and red overlines; neatly drawn large diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points, occasionally the other way around; tables with red lines, some with headings in large red or black thuluth, some unfinished; a rosette (5r). Codex in very good condition; some stains, significant wear of the covers. Dimensions: 24.0×16.0 cm, written area: 15.5×10.5 mm; 23 lines per page in the Ptolemaic part. Brown leather covers over pasteboards with a blind-stamped mandorla with floral motifs and pendants; marbled paper doublures. Type III binding.
Cont.: astronomy, history, rhetoric, logic, religion, philosophy, mysticism, arithmetic, geography, meteorology, medicine. —
