A list of important scholars in various fields; a note on the ‘Middle Books’ (Mutawassiṭāt) ; a note on ratios with a simple diagram; a quotation from Archimedes’ On the Sphere on ratios, with a simple diagram (all on f. 1r). Statement of transfer with the name crossed out; statement of purchase with the name crossed out; statement of transfer to ʿAbd al-Wāsiʿ …jānī, with his small oval seal, apparently dated (all on f. 1r). A religious rectangular seal with illegible name (1r); several erased seals and statements (1r). Stamps ‘Kitābkhāna (?)-yi dawlatī-yi wizārat-i maʿārif’ (State Library of the Ministry of Education) dated 1302/1884-5 (?) (1r, fainted on Ir). Shelfmark ‘sh 321 ustādī’ (Ir). The Marwī madrasa was founded by the wealthy notable Ḥājj Muḥammad Ḥusayn Khān Marwī in 1231/1816.
Cod.: paper, I+102 ff. (unfoliated; small slip of paper written by the scribe inserted after f. 15; occasional catchwords). A single clear naskh hand with a light tendency to nastaʿlīq; mostly dotted ductus, no shaddas or hamzas. Book numbers (written out) and section numbers (overlined abjad) in bold black; book and section titles in red. Abjad and Hindu-Arabic numbers in red and overlined; geometrical points in the text overlined in black. Diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points or vice versa. Tables with red lines; a rosette (53r). Folio 89 by a different rubricator. Codex in good condition; water stains and some mold in the bottom margins throughout; covers significantly worn, binding becoming loose. Green-brown leather covers with a mandorla with pendants and two double frames; spine enforced with cloth. Type III binding.
