One of the three appendices that were frequently copied at the end of al-Ṭūsī’s Taḥrīr al-Majisṭī (C.1.18) in manuscripts that ultimately derive from exemplars stemming from the scholastic milieu of the Maragha observatory (cf. C.1.18a and C.1.18b, and see the note on these appendices in the description of C.1.18). The present appendix appears on its own in at least eight manuscripts. Of these, MS Tehran, Sipahsālār, 592 (Maragha, 662/​1264), and MS Cairo, Dār al-kutub, hayʾa Ṭalʿat 43 (670–673/​1272–1274, copied by the son of Muʾayyad al-Dīn al-ʿUrḍī) include it on slips of paper inserted at or near its thematically correct place after section X.2, while MS Istanbul, Ragıp Paşa, 913 (878/​1473) includes it in the margin; MSS Sipahsālār 592 and Ragıp Paşa 913, both directly based on the autograph, give the alternative, possibly original title mentioned above and attribute the treatise to ‘the author’ (al-muṣannif), probably al-Ṭūsī himself judging from the honorific ‘may his victory be exalted’ (ʿazza naṣru-hu) in MS Sipahsālār 592.

This treatise presents the computation of the eccentricity and the epicycle radius of Venus with all the intermediate numerical steps. Some of the manuscripts (e.g., MS Istanbul, Nuruosmaniye, 2941, f. 109v) reproduce the figure from Almagest X.2.
