a seal of endowment by the famous Ottoman calligrapher, Shaykh al-Islām Walī al-Dīn Efindi b. al-Marḥūm al-Ḥājj Muṣṭafā Āghā b. al-Marḥūm al-Ḥājj Ḥusayn Āghā, dated 1175/1761-2 (1r, 44v, 150v, 231v). Three undated seals of ownership: an octagonal seal by a certain Muḥammad (1r), a partially unreadable hexagonal one (1r), and a small pear-shaped one by a certain ʿAlī (Ir). Undated statement of ownership by Sayyid Muḥammad Hāshim al-Mudarris (1r). Alternative shelf mark ‘2310’ in red (1r).

Cod.: paper, I+231+Ia ff. (foliated with Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil; catchwords). A single clear naskh hand in black; fully dotted ductus, occasional shaddas, no hamzas. Book and chapter headings in black thuluth (only the headings of Books I and II partially in red); each section starting with the word qawlu-hu/aqulu in red; abjad notation in the text in red. Substantial diagrams with lines and labels in red and geometrical points in black. Three small mathematical tables with headings in black (31v, 32r, 33r). Incipit page decorated with a mid-blue frame with lancets and an ʿunwān displaying Timurid characteristics. Codex in very good condition; no visible damage. Dimensions: 265×175 mm, written area: 170×95 mm; 27 lines per page. Dark brown leather cover with fore-edge and envelope flap, decorated with a central mandorla and pendants; doublure decorated with hatip-ebru. Type II binding.
