a note on cosmological aspects of planetary motion according to Ptolemy (1r). An erased oval stamp (3r). Stamp of the library of Majd al-Dīn 〈Naṣīrī〉 with old shelfmark ‘2639’, accompanied by a note by him in pencil stating that he donated the codex to the Majlis library in 1314/​1936 (1r, Ḥusaynī Ishkawarī). ‘No. 21’ in Latin script in pencil (1r). The word ‘waqf’ repeatedly written over the upper third of the textblock (1v, 27v, 67r). Library stamps (1r, 67v). Old shelfmarks: ‘887’ (1r, label on front doublure) and ‘6439’ (stamp on front doublure).

Cod.: paper, 67+Ia ff. (foliated with Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil in the upper right corners of versos, with f. 6 [here referred to as f. 1bis] correctly inserted after f. 1; a smaller sheet of paper in the hand of the scribe inserted after f. 19 with an unfinished tangent table that is missing from the main text; catchwords). Main hand (main work): black naskh, almost fully dotted ductus; book and section titles as well as overlines and some other markings in red; diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points, rarely vice versa; tables with red lines, some empty (37r, 38v–39v). A single naskh hand with sparsely dotted ductus on ff. 55r–58v and several different naskh hands on ff. 59r–60v. A single naskh hand in the third work; almost fully dotted ductus. Codex in good condition; minor water or moisture damage in the upper and lower margins; some stains (e.g., 60r, 65r–v). Dimensions: 20×10 cm; 15–17 lines per page in the main work, 12 lines on ff. 55r–58v, 25 lines in the third work. Dark-brown leather covers, quarter-bound. Type III binding.

It is followed by what appear to be notes by one or more students on the remainder of section I.10 and on section I.11, apparently supplemented by a teacher with a much nicer handwriting; these notes include references to Euclid’s Elements and Data. — No colophon. In the first part: some marginal corrections and various glosses by the hand of the scribe, partially written in the wide spaces between the lines.
