Prov.:a library slip of the former Kitābkhana-yi Riḍwān, established by Mīrzā Riḍā Khān Nāʾīnī Qāḍī Nūr in 1349/1930-1, with former shelfmark ‘4232’ and stamp (p. III); this manuscript, together with several other Ptolemaic manuscripts, was bequeathed by Nāʾīnī to the Āstān-i Quds in Murdād 1311/July-August 1932 (library slip on p. I, note in green ink on p. III). Several contemporary library stamps, including blind stamped ones (pp. 1, 7). Scans of the short works following al-Ṭūsī’s Taḥrīr al-Majisṭī are provided under the separate shelfmarks 19228 (pp. 365–388), 19229 (pp. 389–396), 19230 (pp. 396–414), 19231 (pp. 415–416) and 19232 (pp. 416–420).
Cod.: paper, III+420+Ia pp. (paginated with Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals in the centre of the upper margins, up to p. 120 repeated in the outer corners; page numbers 303 to 310 are repeated after p. 310, here indicated as 303bis to 310bis; catchwords). A clear naskh hand; almost fully dotted ductus, many vowel marks, shaddas and hamzas. Book headings in the Ptolemaic part in red thuluth, headings for Books VIII–XIII missing; chapter beginnings up to Book VII in bold red thuluth introduced by red overlined abjad numerals, from Book VII onwards in bold black thuluth without abjad numbering; qāla / aqūlu in the beginning in bold red, later on in black; proofs numbered in the margins by red abjad numerals up to Book VII. Abjad numerals and Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals sometimes overlined. Diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points, occasionally vice versa; some diagrams lacking geometrical points, especially in the last four books (e.g., pp. 283–285, 310, 315). Table lines in red or gold; many empty tables (e.g., pp. 260–272, 338). Codex modestly decorated; text area surrounded by a golden frame and a blue rule-border, margins surrounded by a golden outer rule-border. Codex in very good condition; some stains and smudges (e.g., pp. 63, 99, 170–173); pp. 214/215 torn at the top, upper part of pp. 286/287 cut. Dimensions: 24.7×14 cm, written area: 16.7×7.6 cm. Leather covers. Seemingly type III binding.
