Owner’s name Abū l-Makārim Amīr Khān Ḥusaynī Hirawī, with his round seal dated 〈1〉104/​1692-3 (1r). A note on f. 42v stating that by the end of Ramaḍān 1079/​February 1669, when he returned from Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi) to his hometown Ahmedabad, Aḥmad b. Sulaymān had read the manuscript to his master Shāh Qubād up to that point; note of possession by Aḥmad b. Sulaymān, who received the manuscript from Shāh Qubād Diyānat Khān while he was reading it to his son, Rustam Khān, on 3 Shawwāl 1079/​6 March 1669 (1r). Note of possession by Muḥammad Riḍā b. Ghulām Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Sulaymān, dated 1147/​1734, with a small square seal ‘Muḥammad Riḍā’ (1r). A Persian note on the Almagest (1r, top). Cod.: Paper, I+106+Ia ff. (foliated with Arabic-European numerals in pencil; catchwords). A single nastaʿlīq hand; partially dotted ductus, only very few hamzas, no shaddas or vowels. Book headings mostly in black; chapter numbers in abjad in black, only occasionally overlined in red; book and chapter titles in red (partially turned purple). Abjad and Hindu-Arabic numbers, geometrical points, and qāla in red, rarely overlined. Diagrams with red lines and black letters, occasionally the other way around. Tables with red lines and black and red contents; a rosette on f. 52v. Codex in good condition; light water damage on the outer edges of most pages, damage to the margins (ff. 1–6) and due to insects restored with numerous small slips of paper. Dimensions: not given; 27 lines per page. Leather binding with silver frame and golden mandorlas, pendants and corner pieces; green marble pastedowns. Type III binding.
