Cod.: paper, 358 [348]+IIIa ff. (foliated with Hindu-Arabic numerals in red just under the text area on every recto, jumping from ‘279’ to ‘290’ [the correct folio numbers are indicated between square brackets]; a parallel foliation in pencil skipping a leaf after ‘236’ and ‘241’ and jumping back from ‘335’ to ‘326’, so that f. 358 [348] is numbered ‘336’; a hardly legible pagination with even Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil on versos, starting at f. 10r and running up to ‘680’ on f. 358v [348v]; no catchwords). All pages consist of three clearly separate parts: the main text in a relatively narrow column; a very wide margin for annotations, and a top area used for quotations from al-Ṭūsī’s Taḥrīr al-Majisṭī. A single nastaʿlīq hand, dotted ductus; smaller writing in some parts (e.g., 15v), spread out in others (e.g, 32r) in order to fit text on the page. Book and chapter titles bold and in red, often repeated in the margins. Quotations from al-Ṭūsī’s Taḥrīr overlined in red. Abjad and Hindu-Arabic numerals and geometrical points in the text in red, only occasionally overlined. All diagrams drawn in the margins, with red lines and black geometrical points or the other way around. The complete tables from al-Ṭūsī’s Taḥrīr with red lines. Codex in acceptable condition; first and last pages of the text damaged with fully restored margins, inner margins of all other pages repaired, possible traces of a flap on f. 41. Dimensions: 230×135 mm, written area: 145×55 mm; 33 lines per page. Brown leather covers with a blind-stamped lobed centre-piece with pendants and an inner and outer frame; red marbled pasteboards. Type III binding.
