the word waqf (‘endowment’) at the centre top of some rectos (e.g., 2r, 3r, 157r). A stamp by Dr. Husseyn Meftah, the former owner of the manuscript (1r), who also added a note on a separate sheet about the contents. Library stamps in blue and a more recent library stamp in red (doublures, 1r, 98v, 157v). Handwritten old shelfmarks: ‘1352’ (front doublure, 1r, 157v), ‘8334’ (1r, inside the recent library stamp), and possibly an accession number: ‘17532’ (front doublure).

Cod.: paper, 157 ff. (unfoliated; no catchwords). A single clear naskh hand in black; mostly dotted ductus, occasional vowels, no shaddas or hamzas; some words were crossed out by black or red lines. Chapter titles in the same form as the main text but with the word bāb (‘chapter’) stretched, book numbers occasionally written in the margins in a different hand, not necessarily at the beginning of the books concerned (e.g., 13v, 51v, 72r). Several diagrams numbered with abjad numerals mostly at their upper left; diagram lines and letters in black; lettering of the diagrams in the text overlined in black. Manuscript in good condition; moisture stains throughout, mostly in the margins, not affecting the readability of the text; margins occasionally repaired with pasted slips of paper (e.g., 1r, 2v, 157v). Dimensions: 21×15 cm, written area: 19×13.5 cm; 25–27 lines per page. Covers in light brown leather decorated with floral motifs. Type II binding.
