anonymous statement of collation against an exemplar with notes by Muḥammad Bāqir al-Yazdī, dated to the night of Wednesday, 5 Jumādā l-ākhira 1237/​27 February 1822 in Mashhad (p. 53). A Persian statement by Hibat Allāh b. al-ʿAskarī al-Ḥusaynī dated 10 Dhū l-Ḥijja 1289/​8 February 1873 stating that he received the codex from his friend Muḥammad Muhtadī (p. V). A Persian statement by Dāʾud al-Ḥusaynī mentioning ‘the late Sulṭān al-ʿUlamāʾ’, dated 1345/1926-7 (p. V). An unidentified signature (p. V). In 1348/1969-70, the manuscript was part of the private collection of Muḥammad Ḥusayn Miftāḥ in Tehran (Nashriyya). A red library stamp with an old shelfmark (?) ‘8261’ (front doublure). Three large stamps (pp. III, V, 215) and a small one (p. 211) of the Majlis Sinā library. Accession number: ‘17490’ (p. V).

Cod.: different shades of paper, V+215+Ia pp. (paginated with Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals, mostly in the upper outer corners of rectos and versos at the beginning and/or end of each work, with major omissions and irregularities; we provide the page numbers in the table of contents by following the pagination visible on the scans as closely as possible; catchwords). At least three different hands. First hand (pp. 1–80 and 105–166; 20 lines per page): a neat naskh; mostly dotted ductus. Second hand, including the Ptolemaic works, similar to the hand of the collator of the second work (pp. 81–95, 169–178, and a loose slip of paper after p. 35; 20–21 lines per page): a thin nastaʿlīq; undotted ductus with frequent elongated descenders, rare vowel marks or hamzas, no shaddas. Third hand (pp. 201–215; 19–20 lines per page): a sloppy nastaʿlīq; mostly dotted ductus. Diagrams throughout the codex with black lines and red geometrical points; some of the diagrams in the second work provided on glued-in (pp. 27, 35, 41) or loosely bound slips (pp. 45bis, 51bis). Abjad numerals in the first Ptolemaic work not highlighted and in the second one in red. Codex in good condition; stains and smudges (esp. on pp. 81–84); upper left part of p. 201 repaired. Dimensions: 21×15 cm, written area: 15×9 cm. Type III binding.
