Ptolemaic extract finished in Tehran on Monday, 9 Dhū l-qaʿda 1306/8 July 1889 (28v); other works and extracts finished in Shawwāl and Dhū l-qaʿda 1306/June-July 1889; treatise 4 finished on Sunday, 11 Muḥarram 1309/16 August 1891 (colophon, 34v).
Or.:copied by Asad Allāh Munajjim Dūdāngah Māzandarānī (d. 1338/1919-20, see below) in Tehran (colophons, 17r, 23v, 25v, 28v and 34v); the colophons of treatise 1 and the extract on ff. 22r–23v indicate that they were copied from an exemplar in the hand of Muʿīn al-Dīn ‘Abd al-Razzāq b. Muḥammad al-Munajjim al-Kāshī, in which the first work was dated to the middle of Shaʿbān 824/August 1421 in Kashan (colophons, 17r and 23v); this manuscript is extant as Tehran, Malik, 3180, which contains further works also included in the present manuscript (Eshera; for a list of works copied by the same scribe see FankhāMuṣṭafā Dirāyatī, Fihristgān-i nuskhahā-yi khaṭṭī-yi Īrān (Fankhā), 45 vols, Tehran: Library, Museum and Documentation Center of The Islamic Consultative Assembly, 2011–13 1390, vol. Prov.:a seal bearing the name Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad al-Ḥusaynī dated 1317/1899-1900 (2r) and two identical seals with the same name dated 1336/1917-8 (51v, 52r). A note in Persian by the scholar and politician Sayyid Jalāl al-Dīn Tihrānī (d. 1366/ 1987) about the copyist of the codex (1r); Tihrānī also states that he acquired the manuscript on Tuesday, 11 Shawwāl 1351/7 February 1933. He donated it to the library together with MS Mashhad, Āstān-i Quds, 12297 in 1361/ 1982 (library slip). Contemporary library stamp (25v) and a blind-stamped library seal (1r).
Cod.: paper, I+52+IIIa ff. (foliated with Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil in the upper left part of rectos, with two unnumbered blank folios after f. 34; additional separate pagination with Hindu-Arabic numerals in the mid upper margins of treatises 1 and 5 and the extracts on ff. 17v–21v, occasionally trimmed; catchwords). A clear naskh hand; almost completely dotted ductus, frequent vowel marks, hamzas and shaddas. Abjad numerals in the text overlined in red. Diagrams in some of the non-Ptolemaic works and extracts with red lines and black labels. Dimensions: 20.52×15.58 cm; 17 lines per page. Codex in excellent condition; some ink smudges and stains (e.g., 2r, 48v–49r, 52r); slight water or moisture damage in the form of stains (1r, 3r, 6r). Brownish red leather covers with a frame. Type III binding.
