Prov.:

a seal by a certain Muḥammad Ḥusayn (pp. 17, 99, 199, 299, 399, 499). An illegible seal and the mention of a price ‘85’ (p. I); another unidentified seal (pp. III and 505). A modern stamp of the Malik Library dated 17 Farwardīn 1331 hs (6 April 1952) together with a stamp of examination dated 1351/1972-3 (p. III).

Cod.: very thin paper, III+509 pp. (paginated with pencil in Hindu-Arabic numerals, Persian forms; catchwords). A small and neat naskh hand; mostly dotted ductus, no vowels, regular indication of isolated hamzas and shaddas. Chapter headings and paragraph beginnings in red (rarely with red overlines). No tables in the Ptolemaic part. The three horoscopes usually found in the Ptolemaic work are in red and black ink, with the houses separated by straight lines (p. 430) or arcs (pp. 435, 438). Dimensions: 21.2×14.9 cm; 21 lines per page (Eastern misṭara imprints). Codex in very good condition, hardly any damage of any kind. Regularly bound in quaternions in a black leather binding, cover decorations with gilded onlays in the form of a central mandorla and pendant; red link-stich sewing (two stations) with a yellow thread for head- and endband. Type III binding.

Cont.: astrology. — Index: Ptolemaica (pp. 1–504); a table of terms with corresponding zodiacal signs according to Ptolemy (p. 507). Blank: pp. II, 505–506, 508, 509 (except for some later calculations).
