A partially faded oval seal of al-Qāḍī …, accompanied by the words ‘min al-Qāḍī’ (p. I, twice). A small rectangular seal ‘Muḥammad …’ (p. Ia). A small oval seal ‘Muḥammad Ḥusayn’ (pp. 17, 99, 199, 299, 399, 501) and a modern stamp with Roman letters ‘MH’ (pp. I, Ia) commonly found in manuscripts of the Malik library. A stamp of the Malik Library with the current shelf mark, dated 17 Farvardīn 1331/​6 April 1952 (p. I).

Cod.: paper, I+588+Ia pp. (paginated with Persian forms of odd Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil in the top right corner of versos, skipping a leaf after p. 249; catchwords). A single clear naskh hand; almost completely dotted ductus; some vowel marks and hamzas, final kāfs indicated with a second smaller kāf or stroke above. Book and chapter headings in red; additional basmala for Book VII; qawlu-hu / aqūlu in red, but often omitted. Abjad numerals with black or sometimes red overlines; Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals not highlighted. Carefully drawn diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points or vice versa, from p. 353 onwards entirely in black with geometrical points occasionally lacking (e.g., pp. 168, 341, 347). Tables with red lines. Codex in very good condition; few stains (e.g., pp. 174–175, 180–181), last folio torn. Dimensions: 26×18.4 cm; 23 lines per page. Covers and flap of dark brown leather, decorated with goldish borders; doublures of light brown leather decorated with thin goldish borders. Type II binding.
