unknown, probably Persia; Ptolemaic work written by Muḥammad b. Ḥājī (234v). The colophon of the exemplar, MS Tehran, Mahdawī, 486, was erroneously copied along and later crossed out (234v). A Persian statement of collation for the second work (87r).

a reading statement (?) with several imprints of a small oval seal with date, possibly 1110/1699-70 (235v). Several notes, three square illegible seals (1r). Owner’s statement by al-ʿAbd al-Muḥarram Muḥammad al-Munajjim’ (1r), possibly the same owner who also left a square seal, dated 1134 (?)/1722-3, on f. 88r. Another square seal by Sayyid Muḥammad Ḥashīm (88r). A modern blue stamp ‘Sulṭān ʿAlī Sulṭānī Shaykh al-Islāmī Bihbahānī’ (1r). Accession number: ‘66810’, with the current shelfmark (1r).

Cod.: paper, 235 ff. (foliated with Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil, often cut off from the scans; scans of ff. 121v–129r missing; catchwords, in the first and second works under- and overlined in the hand of the scribe). At least two different scribes. First hand (1v–87r): a clear and dense naskh in black with interlinear Persian translation in nastaʿlīq on ff. 1v–39v and 83v–87r; mostly dotted ductus, hamzas and shaddas often provided, no vowel marks. Second scribe (88v-234r): a clear round naskh in black; mostly dotted ductus, hamzas and shaddas occasionally provided, some vowel marks. Chapter titles and paragraph beginnings rubricated up to f. 89r (two pages into the Ptolemaic work), afterwards spaces for titles and formulaic expressions reserved and partially supplemented by another hand. No tables or diagrams. Codex in good condition; minor water damage on some folios (e.g., f. 136), not affecting the readability; binding loose. Dimensions: 18.5×12.5 cm; 15 lines per page.
