a Persian ‘magic formula’ in a hand similar to the scribe’s next to the colophon of the first work. Undated ownership statement by Ḥājjī Muḥammad b. Ḥājjī Ibrāhīm ʿAṭṭār Ardabīlī b. Akhī Gharībshāh Ardabīlī, with a long Arabic prayer and some short Persian poems (1r). Owner’s name ‘Da Monsig〈nor〉 Pat〈riar〉ca’ (front doublure), referring to the Patriarch of Antioch, Ignatius Niʿmat Allāh (d. 1587), who had his manuscripts brought from Amid (Diyarbakır, Turkey) to Rome in 1577, where they were acquired by the library of the Tipografia Medicea; Ignatius likely also owned the anonymous commentary on the Thamara extant in MS Florence, BML, Or. 94. An erased wax seal (front doublure). Old shelfmarks: ‘320’, corrected to ‘322’ (label on front cover), ‘319’ (?) (front doublure, crossed out), ‘106’ (front doublure).

Cod.: paper, I+68+VI^a ff. (foliated with Arabic-European numerals in pen, in the first work written over a partially visible, identical earlier foliation with Hindu-Arabic numerals; catchwords). A rather sloppy naskh hand with minor tendency to nastaʿlīq; almost fully dotted ductus with some vowel marks and hamzas and very few shaddas in the Arabic parts. Verba in the Ptolemaic work in red and introduced by abjad numerals; commentary/translation of verba introduced by Persian sharhash (‘its commentary’). Codex in good condition; some damage by fire and insects; minor restorations along folds and margins. Dimensions: 15×11.5 cm; 19 lines per page. Cardboard covers. Type III binding.
