Prov.:an undated statement of collation, followed by a statement of collation and reading by ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, dated Wednesday, 25 Shawwāl 1231/18 September 1816 (p. 167); ʿAbd al-Wahhāb contributed to the translation of ʿAlī b. Ridwān’s commentary into Persian (see C.2.3 and the autograph draft in MS Tehran, Ḥuqūq, 9 B) and also owned and annotated other copies of the same work (MSS Mashhad, Āstān-i Quds, 6349 and Tehran, Sipahsālār, 8251. Furthermore, the manuscript was owned by ʿAbd al-Sayyid Muḥammad al-Ḥusaynī, as indicated by a square seal and a statement of endowment in favour of his son, Yaḥyā b. Muḥammad al-Ḥusaynī, acknowledged by the scholars of Mashhad (p. I). Several waqf stamps (e.g., pp. 40, 50, 80).
Cod.: paper, I+167 pp. (paginated with Hindu-Arabic numerals [Persian variants] in pencil at the centre top; catchwords in the hand of the scribe). A clear and dense naskh hand with tendency to nastaʿlīq in black; formulaic expressions, as well as book and chapter titles highlighted with red overlines. Mostly dotted ductus; occasional vowels and shaddas, hamzas generally provided; frequent use of lām-alif muhaqqaqa. No tables; two of the three horoscopes usually found in this commentary hastily sketched and incomplete in the main text, space reserved for the third horoscope; complete horoscopes added in the margins, probably by the collator ʿAbd al-Wahhāb (pp. 116, 119 and 121). Eastern abjad notation in the diagrams, in the main text with red overlines. Codex in good condition, very few pages repaired with pasted paper slips, mostly in the fold. Dimensions: 220×157 mm (Gulchīn Maʿānī); mostly 22 lines per page. No information on covers or binding provided.
