Based on a manuscript finished in Maragha on Wednesday, 22 Ramaḍān 663/8 July 1265 (124r), i.e., while al-Ṭūsī was there; the base manuscript was copied for Maḥmūd al-Khaṭīb, a preacher from Marāgha. The later MS Berlin, SBPK, Sprenger 1838 has an almost identical colophon and is thus either based on the same exemplar or was copied from this codex.

an undated blue oval seal of the Kutubkhāna al-Khidīwiyya (founded 1830 and predecessor of the Dār al-kutub) (1r, 129v). A statement of acquisition from ‘Mister Curtis (Kūrtsh)’, dated 29 May 〈18?〉93, with mention of a price of 47 yawmiyya (daily wages), accompanied by the current shelfmark and an accession number: ‘62766’ (1r).

Cod.: paper, 129 ff. (foliated in pencil with Hindu-Arabic numerals with Cairine characteristics; no catchwords). A neat round naskh hand, with nastaʿlīq influence. Almost fully dotted, shaddas and hamzas mostly provided, occasional vowel marks. Red, golden and blue frames for the main text, space for marginal annotations surrounded by a thinner golden frame. Book, chapter and paragraph beginnings rubricated. Chapter beginnings additionally introduced by bold abjad numerals in black, overlined in red; subsections numbered with red overlined abjad numerals in the margins. Hindu-Arabic and abjad numerals in the main text mostly rubricated and with overlines. Numerous diagrams, tables, and a rosette (68r); diagram lines in black or red, occasionally in blue (e.g., 42v), geometrical points in red or black; tables with golden lines, numbers in black, headers in red and black. A richly illuminated codex with late Safavid/Ottoman characteristics; text on the incipit pages in cloud bands surrounded by several golden, red and green frames, golden illuminated decoration with floresque motives in a broad margin (1v–2r); mid blue and gold dominating the headpiece with lancets; green, red and golden vegetal motives, no title. Codex in very good condition; minor damage caused by insects, in the beginning affecting a small part of the text; upper margins occasionally restored with pasted slips of paper (e.g., ff. 11, 14); f. 3 torn in the upper margin, not affecting the text; some smudges caused by the erasure of mistakes by the scribe (e.g., 17r, 107r). Dimensions: not provided; 29 lines per page (misṭara imprints). No information on binding and covers provided.

Furthermore, some marginal annotations by the scribe included in a golden frame; some diagrams added in the margins (on f. 104r in red ink, on f. 47r of an armillary sphere with five concentric blue rings). Minor marginal corrections in the hand of the scribe mostly indicated by siglum ṣḥ. Numerous marginal collation marks (e.g., 16v, 54r, 62r, in red and black).
