octagonal seals with the name Abū Turāb (129r, 177v and 193r). An undated endowment statement of Sultan Osman III (r. 1754–1757), under whose patronage the Nuruosmaniye mosque was completed, recorded by al-Ḥājj Ibrāhīm Ḥanīf, inspector of endowments of the two Holy Sanctuaries, with his and the Sultan’s endowment seal (1r; Mühür Veritabanı, nos. 32 and 56).

Cod.: watermarked paper, I+229+Ia ff. (foliated with Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil; catchwords). Three different hands. First hand (1v–87v): naskh with minor tendency to nastaʿliq; mostly dotted ductus, few vowel marks; 22 lines per page. Second hand (last line of 87v–169v): a mostly sloppy nastaʿliq with tendency to naskh; mostly dotted ductus, frequent shaddas, some vowel marks; 22 lines per page; nearly a whole page crossed out (89v). Third hand (170r–329v): naskh with tendency to nastaʿliq; sparsely dotted ductus, few vowel marks, hamzas and shaddas; 23 lines per page. Basmala and book headings in bold thuluth, heading for Book IV merely overlined; section headings in bold thuluth or overlined in red; qawlu-hu / aqūlu in red or overlined in red; propositions numbered by red overlined abjad in the margins. Abjad numerals overlined or in red; Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals in red and/or overlined. Diagrams with black lines and red geometrical points or exceptionally vice versa. Tables with red lines. Codex in acceptable condition; minor water damage in the margins, rectangular areas cut out from some margins (e.g., ff. 24–25, 102–103); ink corrosion, especially in the part copied by the second hand; corrosive damage by the flap (1v–3r, 20v–21v, 40v–41r); lower parts of front doublure heavily damaged. Dimensions: 23.7×13.5 cm, written area: 17.9×10.9 cm. Reddish-brown leather covers with central mandorlas (with floral motifs and a golden outline) and a frame. Probably type II binding.

Some of the annotations preserved in the autograph MS Tunis, Waṭaniyya, 3663⁢ and in MS Istanbul, Süleymaniye, Carullah 1485 are here present in the margins (156v, 158r, 160r).
