Masʿūd al-Awḥadī, known as Munʿim (colophon, 271r), who also copied MS Istanbul, Köprülü, Fazil Ahmed 881 in Rajab 891/July 1486 (see Ramazan Şeşen, Cevat İzgi and Cemil Akpınar, Fihris makhṭūṭāt Maktaba Kūprīlī, 3 vols, Istanbul: IRCICA, 1986, vol. I, p. 435); copied from an exemplar dated to ‘the first ten days’ (al-ʿashar al-awwal) of Jumādā l-thāniya 724/26 May–4 June 1324, which itself was copied from an exemplar that was copied from an autograph, probably MS Tunis, Waṭaniyya, 3663 (colophon, 271r; cf. Mimura).
Prov.:an undated seal (Mühür veritabanı, no. 257) and a statement of ownership dated 1139/1726-7 by Carullah Efendi (d. 1151/1738) (1r); a seal of endowment in favour of the same Carullah Efendi to his library at the Fatih Mosque, dated 1147/1734-5 (1r; Mühür veritabanı, no. 258). Five illegible seals, apparently on the obverse of two slips of paper glued onto f. 1v (visible on a separately provided photograph of f. 1r). Contemporary stamp and seals of the library (1r, 112v, 271v).
Cod.: paper, 271 ff. (foliated with Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil in the upper left part of rectos, with five unnumbered folios after ff. 41, 94, 147, 245, and 250, folio number ‘98’ skipped, and folio numbers ‘66’ and ‘86’ repeated; a competing foliation at the top right of versos, mostly trimmed; catchwords, occasionally trimmed). A single clear black nastaʿlīq hand. Nearly fully dotted ductus; vowel marks and hamzas rarely provided, no shaddas. Book titles in red and bold naskh; beginnings of sections (faṣl) and quotations (qawlu-hu/aqūlu) in red; subchapters numbered with red overlined abjad numerals in the margins. Abjad numerals in the main text overlined and occasionally in red. Carefully drawn diagrams, often extending into, and sometimes completely drawn in the margins; diagram lines in black with geometrical points in red or sometimes the other way around. Five tables (33r, 37r) with headings in red. Codex in very good condition; binding of the back doublure damaged and the last three folios slightly worm-eaten; when the manuscript was trimmed notes and diagrams in the margins were folded in. Dimensions: 182×112 mm, written area: 130×61 mm; 25 lines per page. Red cloth covers. Type III binding, previously type II (traces of the flap on f. 1r).
