A long note in Quṭb al-Dīn al-Shīrāzī’s hand dated to late Shaʿbān 684/October 1285 (1r) states that he requested a copy of the Taḥrīr for the library of a certain Jamāl al-Dīn, but apologises for not having enough time to collate and correct it thoroughly (cf. al-Shīrāzī’s hand in MS Istanbul, Topkapı, Ahmet III 3455 as well as his reading certificate on the title page of MS
an ownership statement of which only the year 738/1337-8 can be read (1r). An ownership statement by an unknown al-Māridānī l-Zardakāsh dated 807 (?)/1405 (1r). Two ownership statements by Abū Bakr b. Yaḥyā b. Yūsuf b. Qurqumās al-Ḥamzāwī dated 962/1555 (1r, 110v) and his seal (110v). An ownership statement by al-Muwaqqit al-Rūmī l-Ḥanafī, who can be identified as Muṣtafā b. ʿAlī l-Qusṭanṭīnī l-Rūmī l-Ḥanafī (d. 979/1571), astronomer at the Yavuz Selim Mosque in Istanbul (on him, see KaḥḥālaʿUmar Riḍā Kaḥḥāla, Muʿjam al-muʾallifīn. Tarājīm muṣannifī l-kutub al-ʿarabiyya, 15 vols, Beirut: Muʾassasat al-Risāla, 1957–1993, vol. III, p. 884 (no. 17078) (1r). An ownership statement by the unknown Abū l-ʿIzz b. ʿAlī l-Ḥanbalī (1r). At least one large seal after the opening statement of the main work glued over with slips of paper (1v). An undated endowment statement and seal from Sultan Osman III (r. 1754–1757), under whose patronage the Nuruosmaniye mosque was completed, recorded by al-Ḥājj Ibrāhīm Ḥanīf, inspector of the endowments of the two Holy Sanctuaries, with his seal (2r).

(foliated with Hindu-Arabic numerals in pencil above the body text on every verso, skipping the small slip of paper after f. 90 but including the leaf of smaller size after f. 78 as f. 79; a previous foliation of ff. 91–110 by the same hand, including the slip after f. 90 but crossed out; an earlier foliation with Hindu-Arabic numerals in pen at the top left of versos skipping both smaller leaves and hence ending at 109; no catchwords). A single clear naskh hand in brown; almost fully dotted ductus, occasional vowels, hamzas and shaddas. Book and chapter titles in a slightly bigger red naskh hand, at times in thuluth; a second cursive naskh hand in tables. Abjad notation in black or brown with red overlines or in red with black overlines. Diagrams mostly with red lines and black geometrical points, at times the other way around; tables in red, black and brown; blank spaces for a table on f. 52v and for a diagram on f. 100r. Codex in very good condition; major restorations of the first leaf, substantial handling stains on outer corners, hardly any moisture stains. Dimensions: 24.7×17.5 cm, written area: 18.9×9.5 cm; 35 lines per page. Covers in brown leather with a blind-stamped square-shaped geometric ornament, frame and corner pieces. Type III binding, Persian safīna.
