The scribe states in a gloss on Abū Jaʿfar’s commentary on the Thamara that he had inspected a witness of the Tetrabiblos in the version by al-Biṭrīq/ʿUmar b. al-Farrukhān on 21 Jumāda l-ūlā 1304/15 February 1887 (p. 229), a work which he later copied (pp. 1–151) and added to the already existing part of the collection (pp. 155–328).

a stamp of the ‘Bibl〈iotheca〉 Regi〈ae〉 Univ〈ersitatis〉 Upsal〈iensis〉’, with acquisition no. ‘1924/31’ (p. 330). The manuscript was ‘one of ten Arabic MSS acquired by the Library at the suggestion of H. S. Nyberg, at the time residing in Cairo, from Mr. Abdel Ghany Shehab, Cairo’ (Platform ALVIN). Also referred to as ‘Zetterstéen 203’.

Cod.: brownish paper, II+330 pp. (paginated with Hindu-Arabic numerals with Cairene characteristics in pencil at the centre top of rectos; p. 2 numbered as ‘1’; catchwords). Main hand: irregular naskh with heavy maghribī influence (even stronger in the titles), at times sloppy and with considerably varying density of text. Fully dotted ductus with many tanwīns, occasional vowels and hamzas, rare v-shaped shaddas. Dark red ink for titles, subtitles and formulaic expressions; overlining in dark red and black; purple ink instead of red on pp. 128–142; black only on pp. 143–151; red for the main text from p. 318 onwards. Page numbers, indexes and glosses added by a second naskh hand (black ink and pencil). Inconsistent use of abjad numerals on pp. 155–207. Codex in good condition; some ink smudges and rubbings occasionally affecting the readability, especially on the first pages. Dimensions: 228×174 mm, written area: 195×115–120 mm; mostly 18 lines per page. Greenish leather cover, two blind-stamped golden frames with floral motif, diagonal lines and corner pieces, golden medallion with floral motif in the centre (vertical, twice the same pattern). Type II binding.
