A short work of two pages discussing the lunar period in anomaly. It is extant in two copies both appended to the same Dublin manuscript of al-Ṭūsī’s Taḥrīr al-Majisṭī (C.1.18); the scribal colophon of the second of these copies attributes it to Quṭb al-Dīn al-Shīrāzī. This work closely follows the beginning of Book IV of Jābir b. Aflaḥ’s Iṣlāḥ al-Majisṭī (C.1.14), and some sentences are quoted verbatim (cf. José Bellver, ‘Jābir b. Aflaḥ on the Four-Eclipse Method for Finding the Lunar Period in Anomaly’, Suhayl 6 (2006), pp. 159–248). Al-Shīrāzī also summarized Jābir b. Aflaḥ’s discussion on the period of the lunar anomaly in his Fawāʾid min al-kitāb al-mawsūm bi-l-Majisṭī li-Ibn Aflaḥ al-Maghribī (C.1.23; see MS Oxford, BL, Thurston 3, ff. 81v–82r). However, the present work and the related section in the Fawāʾid are clearly different. Full title: Faṣl fī Kayfiyyat taḥṣīl al-zamān al-dawrī li-l-qamar ʿalā mā dhakara Baṭlamyūs fī awāʾil al-maqāla al-rābiʿa min al-Majisṭī.

(170v, 169r) فصل في كيفيّة تحصيل الزمان الدوريّ للقمر على ما ذكره بطلميوس في أوائل المقالة الرابعة من المجسطي. كلّ زمانين متساويين فإنّ وسط الشمس وهو متساو فيها بالضرورة لا يخلو إمّا إن تكون أدوارًا تامّة أو مع قوسين متساويين إمّا لا اختلاف لهما {...} للتين بين لأوج والحضيض وبين الحضيض والأوج ... — وظهر ممّا ذكرنا أنّه لو اشترط في المدد المطلوبة الشروط التي ذكرها القدماء في مسير القمر لم يحتج إلى شيء ممّا ذكره بطلميوس من التحزّر والاستقصاء هذا. وأمّا الاستقصاء في الزمان الدوريّ فنحتاج إلى بسط قول بجمعه في رسالة.
