Sayyid Jamāl (90r); main work (and probably also the appendices) copied directly or indirectly from an exemplar dated Tuesday, 6 Muḥarram 722/26 January 1322 which was copied by Ḥamza b. ʿAlī b. Ḥamza al-Qazwīnī al-Bayhaqī, known as Saʿd al-Khurāsānī, at Soltaniyeh (84v); this exemplar is MS London, BL, IO Islamic 1148, from which also a note on the dependence on the autograph next to the colophon was copied.
Prov.:a fāʾida on abjad numerals in a naskh hand and authored by a certain Muḥammad Ṣādiq (90v). A note on al-Ṭūsī and his writings in a nastaʿlīq hand (IIar). Two poems in Persian about spiritual love, one of them by a certain Aṭwār (IIIar). An erased statement (90v). A partially visible stamp of the former Kitābkhana-yi Riḍwān, established by Mīrzā Riḍā Khān Nāʾīnī Qāḍī Nūr in 1349/1930-1 (1r); this manuscript, together with several other Ptolemaic manuscripts, was bequeathed by Nāʾīnī to the Āstān-i Quds in Murdād 1311/July-August 1932 (library slip and note in green ink on f. 1r). Several contemporary library stamps.
Cod.: paper, 90+IIIa ff. (foliated with Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals, repeating ‘67’; catchwords). Main hand: nastaʿlīq; mostly dotted ductus, occasional vowel marks, few shaddas and hamzas. Parts of the text (lower half of 1v, 29r–34v) were supplemented by a second nastaʿlīq hand. Book headings rubricated, except for Book VIII; sections introduced by overlined abjad numerals; propositions numbered with red overlined abjad numerals in the margins. Abjad numerals mostly overlined in red; Persian forms of Hindu-Arabic numerals mostly in red or overlined in red. Diagrams with red lines and black geometrical points or vice versa. Tables with red lines. Codex in good condition; occasional water or moisture damage (e.g., ff. 26–28, 32), some stains and smudges; some margins and folds restored (e.g., ff. 38, 43, 90–IIIa), lower half and margins of f. 1r restored. Dimensions: 26×16.5 cm, written area: 18.5×8.5 cm; 29 lines per page (supplementary hand: 27 lines per page). Leather covers. Type III binding, previously type II (traces of the flap on ff. 1–3 and 90–IIIa).
