Origin: A short comment on Almagest XIII.4 by an anonymous author. The text as found in Oxford, BL, Thurston 3 includes a section entitled Fī ʿIlm miqdār zāwiyat mayl saṭḥ falak al-tadwīr ʿalā saṭḥ ḥāmil fī kull wāḥid min al-kawākib al-khamsa, starting at line 22 of f. 74r. This section has a header similar to those of the surrounding works in Istanbul, Topkapı, Hazine 455, f. 118v. These two main witnesses also differ in that the former preserves extensive marginal glosses, which were copied into the main text of Oxford, BL, Marsh 720, ff. 133r–v. The text may originally have been part of a larger collection of propositions (such as C.1.22) or belong to another anonymous treatise preserved in the same witnesses.
