This is a collection of extracts from Muḥyī l-Dīn al-Maghribī’s commentary on the Almagest (C.1.21). The selection covers the entirety of the original treatise, but in an abridged way. In the incipit of the only witness, an anonymous redactor describes in the first person singular that he ‘collected’ (iltaqaṭtu) parts of the original work. The root of this term is the same as the title of another work extant in Istanbul, Topkapı, Hazine 455, namely the Multaqaṭāt attributed to Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī (C.1.19). Another witness of the Multaqaṭāt, namely Oxford, BL, Thurston 3, mentions not only al-Ṭūsī’s authorship but also Quṭb al-Dīn al-Shīrāzī’s involvement in the compilation. This information taken together with the evidence that we have from other works of which we have abridgments by al-Shīrāzī (e.g., C.1.24 and C.1.23) suggests that also the anonymous redactor of al-Maghribī’s Khulāsa may have been al-Shīrāzī.
